Our Club Story
The Zonta Club of Lebanon is a chapter of an international service organization, Zonta International dedicated to empowering women through service and advocacy. The club has been active in the Lebanon Indiana area since 1956. The club initiated a Z-Club at the
Lebanon High School in 1978 and continues to support the active club of girls and occasionally boys.
Our Activities
The Zonta Club of Lebanon continues to support the needs of the community each year through service projects that provide necessities to women shelters, non-profit organizations, food pantries. The club is also active with advocacy activities and fundraisers.

Recent Service Projects include:List Item 1
- Supporting Isaiah 117 House with new clothing and comfort items for children in transition from their home to foster care.
- Showing appreciation for the Department of Child Services by providing holiday goody bags.
- Participating in an international project. A few years ago, the club learned about the birthing
- practices of poorer women in Malawi Africa. A new member who has served 30 years in providing the medical needs to the Malawian people told the club about some of the horrid conditions during the birthing process. The club wholeheartedly approved the project to assemble and send much needed birthing kits to Malawi.
- Providing meals and assistance to Habitat for Humanity.
- Laying Christmas wreaths on the graves of military women and men in community cemeteries to honor their sacrifice and service and teach future generations the value of freedom.

Advocacy and Activism Projects include:List Item 2
- Participating in the Zonta Says No walk with other Area 4 (Indiana) clubs
- Placing Zonta Says No signs throughout the community and posting media during the 16 Days of Activism.
- Recognizing women who are making a difference in our community at the Rose Awards dinner held early March.
- Giving college scholarships to a senior girl from each of the 3 high schools in the county.
- Supporting our longest-standing service project which is the Lebanon High School Z-Club founded in 1978. The Zonta Club supports the Z-Club by giving donations to help their projects, including them in our club service projects, and welcoming them to special meetings such as their installation ceremony, and our Christmas Dinner each year.

Fundraisers include:List Item 3
- Poinsettia Sales in early winter, just in time for Christmas.
- An Evening Out occurs either in the autumn or spring. This event includes dinner, music, silent auction and live auction. The proceeds from both fundraisers support college scholarships.

Assembling Birthing Kits for Malawi – February 2025List Item 1
The Zonta Club of Lebanon assembled "Birthing Kits" for expectant mothers in Malawi, Africa. It was such
an honor to have the opportunity to provide such basic necessities for a safer delivery.

Rose Awards – March 2025List Item 2
Each year Zonta International recognizes women for outstanding contributions to their community by presenting a yellow rose. This year the Zonta Club of Lebanon honored six amazing women who continue to make contributions to Boone County in the categories of Community, Humanitarian, Economics, Political, Volunteerism, Professional. The Rose Awards celebration coincides with the International Women’s Day
which is celebrated every year on March 8th. This year the Zonta Club of Lebanon awarded the following recipients:
- Heather Schaller for the category of Community. She is on the Steering Committee for Women of Impact Boone County, a philanthropic women’s group dedicated to providing financial support for local nonprofit organizations while creating a sense of community.
- Suzi Stephens for Humanitarian. She is the co-founder and Medical Director of the Malawi Project. She and her husband Dick began visiting the African country over 30 years ago. Since then, they have worked to improve conditions by finding investors to build medical facilities, food processing plants, and housing. Suzi is a member of Zonta and has organized a service project to send birthing kits to Malawi pregnant women.
- Missy Krulik for Economics. She is the Executive Director of The Heart of Lebanon which is a nationally accredited Main Street organization that enriches community heritage and promotes downtown activities and economic stability.
- Cheryl Hancock for Political. She is currently a Town Council member for Whitestown and is committed to the community and keeping campaign promises. She served many years on the Humane Society Board of Directors and fosters animals when she can.
- Lorrie Monn for Volunteerism. She serves on the Board of Directors for the nonprofit Live for Life that supports the Women’s Recovery home called New Beginnings. This nonprofit offers safe and supportive housing and services for women struggling to overcome barriers in their lives.
- Jaclyn Ricci for Professional. (Not pictured.) She is the owner of The Ladybug Pest and Wildlife Control inZionsville. The business was awarded the 2022 Business of the Year by the Zionsville Chamber of Commerce and a 2021 Best Things Winner from IndyStar. She mentors her young employees how to be professionals in the workplace and donate volunteer hours to worthy causes.

“Lebanon… The Cleanest City in Indiana” – May 2025List Item 3
Judi Wilson rallied several members of the Lebanon Club to participate in "Lebanon...The
Cleanest City in Indiana". It is an annual event sponsored by BC Solid Waste Management. The Lebanon Zonta logo is on the back and center of over 600 t-shirts worn by volunteers that weekend. This was a great opportunity to participate in an environmental
event with many local organizations and companies. Zonta environmental enthusiasm was seen by many people who participated in the event!

Nonprofits Volunteer Fair – July 2025
Zonta Club of Lebanon table at the Nonprofit Volunteer fair. It was a great event to learn more about nonprofits in the community. Thanks to Judi Wilson , Lisa Richards and Sara Bean for “manning” the booth!
