Where and When

The Club usually meets the 3rd Wednesday of the Month. Happy hour is at 5:30pm and the meeting starts at 6pm. The two main locations are the Belvidere Moose Lodge and Coach's Corner, however, we will meet at other places if they have space available. The July meeting is usually a fun meeting meant more for socializing than official club business and the December meeting is a Christmas breakfast.

Our Club Story

The Belvidere Zonta Club was formed in 1967 and has consistently supported the community ever since. Club members come from a variety of backgrounds and professions, but all have the common desire to support women in the community. Monthly Club meetings oftentimes consist of presentations by local organizations that focus on domestic violence, mental health, education, children, workforce, etc. Fundraising efforts support college scholarships and many of the organizations that present to the Club throughout the year. Club members also participate in food drives, creating care packages, supporting pending legislation, etc., in addition to supporting efforts through their churches, workplaces, and other organizations to which they belong

Our Activities

The Belvidere area is blessed to have many organizations that share Zonta International's goal to empower women and girls.

• At our annual salad luncheon, the Club raises money for four $1,000 scholarships to be awarded to a senior at each of the high schools in Boone County.

• Two thirds of the funds raised from the salad luncheon, pecan sales and carry-over balances go back to local organizations whose missions align with Zonta's. Checks are presented to the organizations at the August meeting. Past awardees have been Rockford Sexual Assault Counseling, Remedies Renewing Lives, Family Counseling

Services, Safe Families for Children and local food banks. Awards range from $500 to $1,500 depending on funds available.

• One third of funds raised go back to Zonta International to support their International Service Projects.

• The Club will host food drives, hygiene drives, create care packages for women entering treatment facilities, and adopt seniors at Christmas time during their meetings.
